What termite activity actually looks like before it's obvious.
Termites rarely announce themselves the way other pests do. A colony can work through structural wood for months, sometimes longer, before a homeowner in Algona, IA notices anything beyond a slightly hollow-sounding baseboard or a cluster of discarded wings near a windowsill. By the time visible damage shows up, the activity behind it has usually been underway for a while, which is exactly why inspection speed matters as much as the treatment itself.
Davis Pest Solution treats termite calls as priority requests for that reason. An ISA-certified technician is dispatched quickly to inspect the foundation, crawl space, and any wood-to-soil contact points where termites most commonly gain entry, then walks you through exactly what was found before recommending a course of treatment.
Because termite colonies can involve thousands of individuals working continuously, a short delay between suspicion and inspection can matter. Rapid dispatch scheduling exists specifically to close that gap for Algona, IA property owners.
Six signs that typically bring a termite call in.
Discarded wings near windows
Swarmers shed their wings after leaving the nest, often leaving small piles near entry points.
Hollow-sounding wood
Tapping on a beam or baseboard that sounds papery or hollow can indicate internal damage.
Thin mud tubes on foundations
Subterranean termites build these tubes to travel between soil and wood while staying protected.
Doors or windows that stick
Warped frames can result from moisture and damage caused by long-term termite activity.
Buying or selling a home
A pre-sale inspection helps confirm there is no active infestation before closing.
A neighboring property had termites
Colonies can spread between adjacent structures, making a preventive inspection worthwhile.
Five practical steps while you wait for your technician.
Avoid disturbing the area
Leave mud tubes, damaged wood, or swarmers in place so the technician can assess the activity accurately.
Note where you saw activity
A room, a specific board, or a certain time of day can help the technician focus the inspection.
Reduce excess moisture if possible
Termites are drawn to damp wood, so addressing an obvious leak nearby can help going forward.
Keep firewood away from the structure
Stacked wood against a foundation can give termites an easy bridge into the home.
Call to schedule an inspection
Rapid dispatch scheduling means you do not need to wait long once you make the call.
From your call to a documented treatment plan.
You call the priority line

What if the inspection finds no active termites?
